化妆师的薪水基于工作地点以及个人能力与经验水平。在零售业或美容美发沙龙内工作的化妆师一般可获得稳定的时薪，18纽币至30纽币之间；而在电影项目等工作的化妆师一般以项目周期获得薪水，培训期的电影电视等项目化妆师可获得800至1000纽币的周薪（50小时），在小型电影电视项目工作的化妆师可获得2000至2500纽币的周薪（50小时），大型项目的可获得3000至4000纽币的周薪（50小时）。
