收入上，记者的薪酬因经验、工作地点和工作媒体的类型而异。记者的年薪通常在4.2万至8.5万纽币之间，此外，记者还可以享受晚上或公众假期的津贴，以及加班费。其中，纸媒和广播记者年薪可达3万至8万纽币，具体数额取决于该组织的规模，资深调查记者年薪可超过10万纽币。电视记者年薪从3万到4.5万纽币不等，有经验的记者年薪超过8万纽币。此外，记者也可以按稿件支付报酬，不一定非得是雇佣关系的员工，至少在多数毕业生的最初阶段是这样。
