家庭和婚姻顾问主要职责

• 为个人、夫妻和家庭提供心理辅导；
• 协助客户调整心态、期望和行为，以改善人际和婚姻关系；
• 提出多种调整心态和行为的方法，并讨论其可行性；
• 结合职业、社会、医疗和心理需求，与客户协商制定康复计划；
• 可能在呼叫中心工作

针对咨询顾问，多数都需要注册，新西兰的注册机构有如下几个：

• Gestalt Institute of New Zealand
• New Zealand Association of Counsellors
• New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists
• New Zealand Christian Counsellors Association

例如：New Zealand Association of Counsellors要求有Counselling的学历，至少是6级的文凭。同时，需要至少200小时面对面的咨询。
